Orbis

The KM Foundation is working with Orbis to develop and fund a programme for some 40,000 cataracts in Tamil Nadu, South India. There will be screening camps for some 300,000 people to identify suitable patients for cataract operations. This will give a life to so many people and enable them to improve the economic situation for their families.

The KM Foundation are donating a teak built gold plated chariot to be used by the temple community for their major festivals. In return the Temple are going to improve the health of their community by educational events to improve diets, reduce cholesterol and diabetes which is prevalent in the South Asian community.

The Chalk Festival

The Chalk Festival is the principal organisation that promotes History to the public. Led by the eminent historian James Holland and supported by Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook ( who do the well established podcast “The rest is history”). The KM Foundation is principally funding the Chalk History Hub aimed at encouraging more students to develop their interest in history, also into higher level studies.

Tracheostomy treatment

The first was to establish tracheostomy treatment for the state of Punjab in India, a state of 31 million people without access to this service. Professor Guri Sandhu from The London Clinic and Imperial College and Professor Justin Roe from Charing Cross Hospital and Imperial College are leading the project for the charity. They are working with a charitable hospital group in Punjab and training local doctors to undertake this vital work. The KM foundation is responsible for this initiative including the provision of much needed equipment.

Music education

The second project is to support music education through the London Music Fund. The KM Foundation will assist up to 20 students a year (ages 16-19 with a keen interest in music) to develop their music interest. This will be done by bursaries to cover musical instruments, tuition and transport, and most importantly to connect them with senior conductors and orchestras globally.
